Eugene R. Clothier, DMV

Eugene R. Clothier, DMV, graduated from Kansas State University in 1968. He is currently licensed in Colorado and Kansas. The practice is limited to dogs and cats. His rural background defines his character. Five years in the Air Force Veterinary Corps and multiple locations later provides over 40 years of experience in different cultures and life styles. During the Air Force experience he received the Air Force Commendation Medal for Rabies Control and Health programs initiated for the military and local Thai government. As a civilian veterinarian, he found the first documented case of Tropical Canine Pancytopenia in Virginia (AVMA Journal, July 1, 1995, p. 71). His many years of practice come with a wealth of common sense, experience, practicality and wisdom. He was included in the 1993 – 1994 edition of National Who’s Who in Veterinary Medicine. In 2009 he semi-retired from his full service hospital in Colorado Springs. He provided part time relief services to Compassion Animal Hospital in Woodland Park and then established Great Value Pet Clinic in October 2010. The Doctor strives to create a comfortable, informal, but professional atmosphere in his clinic.

After more than 40 years of practice, I have discovered the most valuable service that I provide is dentistry. Dental disease affects 85 percent of adult pets. Bacteria from dental disease can spread throughout the body and damage the kidneys, liver and heart. After two years of age, annual dental exams are a must.

The Mission and The Clinic

The mission of Great Value Pet Clinic is to provide pet healthcare at an affordable price in the Black Forest, Calhan, Colorado Springs, Elbert, Falcon, Monument and Peyton areas. GVPC was established with the present economy in mind. In order to accomplish this goal overhead cost had to be minimized while retaining quality medicine. A convenient location was the first to be considered to clients in an affordable building. Basic essential space and equipment were acquired. Low inventory and a few employees were a must.

I view GVPC as having an atmosphere that is comfortable, informal, pleasant and professional. I view the surrounding and full service and specialty hospitals as an extension of my overall pet health care team. GVPC will be able to provide routine services needed at 30 – 50 percent savings over full service hospitals. This was accomplished by limiting the services provided to the routine wellness exams, vaccinations, clinical medicine, elective surgery and dentistry. Expensive services , such as hospitalizations, in house laboratory and radiology are referred. Thereby expensive hospital space, equipment and labor are eliminated. The savings are then passed on to the client to enable affordable medicine. New patient wellness exams are $59, then tech visits are offered with vaccinations, general exams are only $59. Dental cleanings start at $475. My limited service clinic is conveniently located to serve the above locations with affordable veterinary care. With a congenial atmosphere the goal is to accommodate the needs of both the client and the patient. We encourage you to come and visit this unique veterinary clinic. Our goal is to serve you.

What We Do

Our goal is to lower the overhead cost and provide a quality service at an affordable fee.

This is Accomplished By Limiting the Services Provided to:

  • Routine Wellness Exams
  • Clinical Medicine
  • Dentistry
  • Neuters/spays
  • Elective Surgery
  • Growth Removals
  • Vaccinations
  • Laser Therapy

Extensive services, such as radiology, hospitalizations, and specialized surgeries are referred. Thereby expensive hospital space, equipment and labor are eliminated. The savings can be passed on to the client to provide affordable medicine. This philosophy has allowed Great Value Pet Clinic fees to be 30% less than a full service hospital. Tech visits are $29 with vaccinations after the first initial visit, and exams are only $59. Dental cleanings start at $475. The dental includes anesthesia, radiographs, ultra-sonic scaling, polishing and fluoride rinse. Blood-work, extractions and medications are additional.

Emphasizing Dental Services, we offer C.E.T. Dental Products for prevention of tartar and gingivitis. We can also provide over-the-counter pharmaceuticals and dental products.
